Favorite Friday

I am so glad it isn't January anymore. But as I type the snow is coming down. I am ready for Spring but every day is a day closer.

Here are few of my favorite things:

Watching some of my movies on my movie list.

Seeing Josiah playing with friends.

Trying to learn to knit. Thanks, Michelle.

Watching Brad coach.
Some other things:
Bonding with a new friend.
Doing the bus run for Tammi.
Going back to Zumba.
Listening to Josiah sing.
That there is a new baby in the family. Brad's cousin Emily had a girl on Tuesday.
Thank you, God.

Coach Donoho

Brad loves basketball and for years (even before having a child) he talked about coaching a little league team someday. Well he decided that he would go to the Godfrey Park District and see if he could be an assistant coach. They said, "you don't have a kid on the team." Brad said, "no my kid is 3." They said, "well we usually don't have people just offer to coach and we really don't have assistant coaches, but you can be a coach." So that is what he is doing. He is coaching K-1st grade kids.

Watching them is cute and funny. Some of the kids just run with the ball without dribbling. They keep the score close even if it isn't. The coaches are also on the court directing them. Sometimes the kids are just standing around waiting for the ball to come to them while others are all over the kid with the ball. There was a elbow thrown once. And of course there are those kids who have to run off the floor because they have to go potty.

If anyone wants to see this entertainment in person, they play every Monday and Wednesday night at Gilson Brown School. I am sure you will smile.

Groundhog's Day

Today is Groundhog's Day. It is the day were an animal decides how many more weeks of winter we will have. Last year when I was talking about it one of the kids in our church she said, it really doesn't matter what the groundhog does because Spring always starts on March 20th. Yeah, yeah she is a smart one isn't she. Well I don't care when the calendar says it is Spring, I want spring weather now. I have already noticed it stays brighter longer.

One thing that I always remember on Groundhog's Day is something my aunt used to do with her students in her class. For days she would talk about bring in groundhog to eat on Groundhog's Day. Of course the students were grossed out. Then on Groundhog's Day she would bring in sausage. Because sausage is ground hog. Ha, Ha!! I am sure she doesn't do this anymore.

I am so ready for Spring. Bring it on!!

Cookie Osmosis

Have you ever slaved over cookies for hours just to have them go brick hard after a day? Well of course that has happened to me. I am not exactly sure when Brad taught me this trick but I definitely remember him being the one that taught me to put a piece of bread in with the cookies. If you put the piece of bread in the container the moisture from the bread makes the cookies soft.

I went online to see the reasoning behind this and found this great diagram. And since I am so cool I wanted to add it to my blog. Okay but actually I see a potential science fair project. Does one particular brand of bread that works better? Does certain cookies work differently? Does the container make a difference, etc? I could go on and on.
So if you have ever had the hard cookie problem, just stick a piece of bread in the container with them. It is like they are fresh out of the oven. Except for the really hot part.

Movie List

Back in December I started to make a list of movies I wanted to see. I thought if we got snowed in or had a lazy day at home I would want to be prepared. Well I haven't watched even one of them yet.

Here is my list of movies I want to see that are on DVD:
Julie and Julia
Four Christmases
Post Grad
Love Happens
Last Chance Harvey
Fame
I Can Do Bad All By Myself

And there is also a ton of movies that have been in the theaters or are going to soon. I probably won't see them until they are on DVD but I saw previews for them and I wrote them down.

Here is that list:
Out in the Air
Me and Orson Wells
Nine
Leap Year
Did you hear about the Morgans?
Amelia
It's Complicated
When in Rome
Dear John
Valentine's Day
Last Song

That should keep me occupied for awhile.
